Officials with the Ulaanbaatar Emergency Office (UEO) conducted a fire safety inspection at the Narantuul Market on Monday.

Inspectors found electrical equipment and gas stoves that did not meet safety standards in some parts of the market. The market’s managing officials have not responded to requests to address the situation. Therefore, UEO officials say, if the situation is not addressed, some parts of the market could be closed.

Inspectors said small cafes in the market are not using electrical equipment and gas stoves properly.

UEO officials also warned that inadequate ventilation systems could result in a fire.  They noted that if the market fails to make improvements, they will take further steps.
