At a press conference on Thursday, Green Party (GP) officials said a recently announced alliance between the GP and the Civil Will Party (CWP) is illegal.

The officials said reports that 330 members of the GP have joined the CWP must be inaccurate, because the GP still exists as a legal party and retains its members.
They said some people are illegally using the Green Party’s name.

They also said that 30 people who claimed to be members of the GP and joined the CWP were not on the GP’s party membership list.

If an individual is a member of a political party, the officials said, he or she has no right to join another party before cancelling his or her membership in the first party.
The officials emphasized the no political entity should use the Green Party’s name, since the party is still legally recognized.
