The MPP caucus discussed the Tavantolgoi protocol on Monday and decided that each citizen should be given 1,072 shares in the mining project.

The caucus also decided that domestic organizations can buy Tavantolgoi shares.
MPP caucus chairman U.Enkhtuvshin said the Government will issue rules for distributing and selling the shares to fulfill the MPP’s 2008 campaign promise of giving each citizen MNT 1.5 million.

MNT 500,000 is being given to each citizen through a monthly MNT 21,000 “allowance” until June. The remaining MNT 1 million will be given as Tavantolgoi shares, though citizens may opt for cash instead.

U.Enkhtuvshin added that the value of a share will depend on international markets.
