
Ts.Damdin, an advisor to the Nature, Environment and Tourism Minister, and Akira Nitta, the head of the Japanese Ministry of Nature and Environment’s Foreign Cooperation Department, are heading the delegations.
The meeting is aimed at determining the basic principles of future projects that the two sides agreed to implement in a memorandum of cooperation at the fourth consultative meeting of the two ministries in Dalanzadgad, Umnugobi aimag, in September 2011.
Experts are discussing an ecotourism project; asbestos issues; and environmental damage due to mining activity. They will also visit Bugat soum of Bulgan aimag and Tumentsogt soum of Sukhbaatar aimag, where the two ministries have planned to develop ecotourism, and they will meet with local residents and exchange opinions with managing officials of the soums.
