
Deputy Nature, Environment and Tourism Minister Ch.Jargalsaikhan, Weather and Forecast Office managing officials and specialists, and delegates from RIMES attended the meeting.
Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister G.Zandanshatar opened the meeting with a speech discussing the activities of RIMES, its member nations, its importance, and the issues it is facing. He said Mongolia signed an agreement of cooperation with RIMES in 2010 and has agreed to serve as the organization’s Program Secretariat from 2011 to 2013, supporting resource mobilization, program coordination, and acceleration of the process of signing of the RIMES Cooperation Agreement by collaborating countries.
Mongolia organized a series of seminars last spring in Ulaanbaatar and Selenge and Khentii aimags with the assistance of RIMES. Also, the United Nations Development Program is implementing a project of climate change risk management in Mongolia through RIMES.
