Defending the decision to spend MNT5.5 billion on removing carcasses of livestock that die in the dzud, D.Namsrai, Vice director of the General Emergency Authority, has clarified that the amount is an estimate made on the basis that the number of dead animals may well reach five million by May, and not on the present number of 2.7 million.  Carcasses must be disposed of before it starts getting warm.

The MNT230 million the Government has provided to each of the 12 hardest hit provinces include MNT 5 million to be spent on removing carcasses and sterilization.
