At its meeting on Wednesday, the DP’s National Consultative Committee passed a protocol to formally pull out of the coalition government. The following is the text of that protocol:

“The DP decided to join to the coalition government in 2008 with the aim of implementing the party’s 2008 election platform, and to abolish bureaucracy, improve governance, protect human rights and democracy, establish justice, develop economic capacity and free-market principles, allocate shares from mineral resources revenue to citizens, create conditions that intensively develop production and generate jobs, reduce poverty, and upgrade people’s living standards.

“The DP has worked to resolve many issues, including citizen ownership of shares of mineral resources revenue, overcoming the financial crisis with minimal losses in a short period of a time, starting election reform, forming fair election conditions with electronic voting machines and new citizen ID cards, transferring budget authority to local settlements, increasing the number of students attending professional training centers, increasing investment in the health sector, and financing small- and medium-sized enterprises such as the Mongol Livestock project.

“But democratic values have eroded, people’s living standards have not improved, judicial reform and anti-corruption efforts have stalled, and justice has not been fully established.

“In addition, the Government has not commenced construction of 100,000 apartments, new roads, and new railways, even though all necessary measures have been passed. Therefore, the DP has made the political decision to pull out of the coalition government to promote the people’s common interests. DP members support the party’s decision to pull out of the coalition government.”
