France”s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs is praising Mongolia’s Parliament for abolishing the death penalty by ratifying the Second Additional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

This statement was released by the French Ministry on January 9, 2012.

France also praised the commitment made by President Ts.Elbegdorj, who imposed a moratorium on the death penalty in January of 2010. The statement reads, “France reaffirms its constant commitment, and that of Europe, to abolishing the death penalty anywhere, whatever the circumstances.”
