DP Chairman N.Altankhuyag announced on Thursday that the party is pulling out of the coalition government.

He spoke about the party’s reasons for forming the coalition after the 2008 parliamentary election, which was marred by violence when five people were killed in clashes between demonstrators and police on July 1, 2008.

N.Altankhuyag said the DP decided to join a coalition government to improve people’s living standards, to help develop the country, and for political stability. He said it has been three years and four months since the government was formed, and he said the collaboration with the MPP has achieved successes, such as political stability and economic growth.

N.Altankhuyag noted the development of the mining sector, most notably the establishment of the Oyutolgoi and Tavantolgoi projects, and of small- and medium-sized businesses.

N.Altankhuyag said the DP has fulfilled its duty with respect to the coalition government. He said 2012 is a special year, since elections for parliament and local managing officials will be held.

He added that the DP and the MPP will compete separately in the elections, and each party has its own platform. He said the DP will issue a platform for the country’s development.

N.Altankhuyag said that, to best implement its policies, and to prepare for the elections, the DP is withdrawing from the coalition government.
