Speaker D.Demberel, President Ts.Elbegdorj, and Prime Minister S.Batbold gave speeches at the session, which was attended by foreign ambassadors to Mongolia.
D.Demberel opened the session and noted that December 29, 1911 was the historic day that Mongolia declared its independence from Manchuria.
President Ts.Elbegdorj said Mongolia has become a democratic nation of freedom, peace, and development. He said the Community of Democracies thought enough of Mongolia that it chose the nation to lead the organization.
Ts.Elbegdorj also apologized for the events of July 1, 2008, when police opened fire on demonstrators in Ulaanbaatar, killing five people.
