Wednesday’s meeting of the Standing Committee on State Structure was embroiled in controversy almost from the start. Members discussed draft amendments to the Constitution submitted by MPs N.Batbayar, D.Enkhbat, and D.Damba-Ochir.

Some members criticized the amendments, which would affect the official status of cities and the Naadam festival, and make December 29 a holiday.

MPP members of the committee left the meeting, and DP members decided to discuss the proposed amendments at the next meeting.
