The total production output of Mongolia’s mining sector increased to MNT 1,890 billion at the end of November 2011. The rise is attributed to big increases in oil, coal, and iron ore production.

Compared with the same period a year earlier, coal exploitation increased by 23.8 percent, and oil and gas exploitation went up by 12.1 percent.

However, the exploitation of other mineral resources decreased by 10.7 percent.
Iron production increased by 12.7 percent in comparison to 2010.
