
On Tuesday, President Ts.Elbegdorj received France’s ambassador to Mongolia, Jean-Paul Dumont, who is leaving his post after more than two years.
Dumont noted that France appreciated the president”s proposals and initiatives, and that he was satisfied with the strengthening of democracy in Mongolia. Dumont said, “I will be retired soon and intend to work for promoting Mongolia after leaving my office.”
The president expressed his happiness with the state of Mongolian-French relations, and noted the achievements during Dumont’s ambassadorship. Ts.Elbegdorj emphasized that France is one of Mongolia’s important partners in Europe. “A letter from France”s President Nicolas Sarkozy states that Mongolia is a special partner of France in Asia,” the president said, “and I consider it an expression of our bilateral ties.”
Ts.Elbegdorj said that Mongolia wants to establish a university for magistrates adhering to French standards to train people for judicial positions. He also thanked the ambassador and the French embassy for fostering collaboration between Mongolia’s Prosecutors’ Office and the Magistrate University of France.
The president noted that France has supported Mongolian democracy from the beginning. He also noted that the French cultural center restored the Mongolian film “Tsogt Taij,” which was made in the 1940s. He made note of intergovernmental agreements in the mineral and nuclear energy spheres, and expressed his appreciation for collaboration in judicial reform. Ts.Elbegdorj expressed his hope that Dumont will continue making contributions to strengthening bilateral relations and wished him all the best.
