A Business and Biodiversity Offsets Program (BBOP) delegation is on a visit Mongolia from April 26 through May 3 at the invitation of the Ministry of Nature, Environment and Tourism. The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is organizing the visit which will include meetings with a broad group of stakeholders, and engaging with the business community. The BBOP delegation will be providing two workshops: An Introduction to Biodiversity Offsets on the afternoon of April 28, and the more in-depth session A Technical Training on Biodiversity Offsets on the morning of April 29.
BBOP is a partnership between companies, governments and conservation experts to explore biodiversity offsets, a name given to conservation actions intended to compensate for the residual, unavoidable harm to biodiversity caused by development projects, so as to ensure no net loss of biodiversity.
