At a meeting on Thursday, April 22, 2010 with Mongolian Labor Union President S.Ganbaatar and others from the union, Parliament Speaker D.Demberel said Parliament would surely consider their demand to raise salaries and pensions but also said that this might not be a good idea during the present economic crisis, as this may lead to price rise. The Head of the Standing Committee on the Budget, Ts.Davaasuren, the Head of the Standing Committee on Social Policy, Education, Culture and Science, D.Arvin, the Speaker’s advisers S.Banzragch, D.Batmunkh and other officials also attended the meeting.

The Union has been demonstrating in support of their demand to raise salaries at Government organizations by no less than 60 percent this year, and again no less than 50 percent next year. The rise demanded in pensions is 50 percent this year and 50 percent next year. The union is also demanding that minimum wages should rise by no less than 80 percent by May 1. The Union believes the money for this can be found easily if Parliament reduces Government expenditure.

Both the Union leaders and the  Speaker agreed to cooperate to cooperate to find a proper situation.
