
Now the MPP is proposing a “28-48” version that would see 28 MPs elected from political parties’ lists and 48 elected by the majority system. Under this version, the city voting lists would be reduced to 16 and the countryside to 48. But critics say that would make the vote of one countryside resident equal to the votes of three city residents.
The DP says it has not yet officially received any of the MPP’s draft election law proposals. The two parties must reach an agreement on a draft election law during the autumn session.
