Government of Mongolia is highly valued contribution of Mrs. Courtney Engelke in activities of sustainable reduction of air pollution and reducing poverty and honored her with “Friendship” medal. 

On 29th September of 2011, Mr. D.Battulga, Head of Office of President awarded the medal “Friendship” to Mrs. Courtney Engelke, Head of MCC Program of Asia Pacific.

In December 2009, the Government of Mongolia submitted new project proposal to reduce air pollution in Ulaanbaatar to MCC. The MCC Board of Directors approved an amendment to the Compact to include the Energy and Environment Project. The Compact Amendment was signed by U.S. and Mongolian governments on 2 February, 2010.

Mrs. Engelke Courtney has made a valuable contribution by leading the research work of Energy and Environment project.  Currently, Energy and Environment project is implementing to increase the adoption of energy-efficient and lower-emission appliances and homes and changes of consumer behavior in the 48 khoroos of 5 districts of Ulaanbaatar and supporting the development of renewable energy and heat only boilers.
