The State Specialized Inspecting Agency (SSIA) recently investigated social insurance claims in Tuv, Zavkhan, Khuvsgul, and Dornogobi aimags, where more payments are made to disabled people in comparison to other aimags.

The investigation revealed that 265 healthy people in those aimags received disability payments in 2010, costing the state some MNT 95 million.

The SSIA said if investigations were conducted in more soums of those aimags, more fraud would be uncovered. Investigators also noted that the use of counterfeit documents to obtain payments fraudulently is increasing, not only in the capital, but also in the countryside. In some cases, doctors and hospital officials have helped their friends obtain payments illegally.
