National Security Council Administrative Chief B.Khurts, who was arrested at London’s Heathrow Airport on September 17, 2010 and extradited to Germany in August, has returned to Mongolia. He arrived at Chinggis Khaan Airport at 14.50 on Tuesday. According to German media reports, a German court has dismissed the charges against him, and he was released from custody on September 22.

Khurts was accused of involvement in the 2003 kidnapping of Enkhbat Damiran, a Mongolian who was wanted for questioning in connection with the murder of the prominent Mongolian politician Zorig Sanjaasuren. Enkhbat Damiran, who has since died, was allegedly kidnapped in Paris, driven to Berlin, drugged, and flown back to Mongolia.

Our correspondent interviewed Khurts after he landed in Ulaanbaatar. He said he is glad to be returning home, but declined to discuss his case further. He flew with President Ts.Elbegdorj on the leg from Seoul. Khurts said that he will go back to work tomorrow.
