A group that is working to reduce air pollution in Ulaanbaatar delivered a report on their efforts to D.Battulga of the President’s Office on Monday. The group includes officials from the Ministry of Nature, Environment and Tourism; the Ministry of Roads, Transportation and Urban Development; the National Committee for Air Pollution Reduction; Traffic Police Office; the districts; and the mayor’s office.
The Ministry of Nature, Environment and Tourism plans to use money from the Clean Air Fund to buy buses that run on natural gas; subsidize the purchase of low-smoke stoves for households; and connect housing units to a central heating system. Money would also be spent to subsidize cleaner-burning fuels for households.
D.Battulga thanked the officials for their work and noted that reducing pollution in the capital will require different organizations to work together closely and cooperate.
