
Speaker D.Demberel opened the conference and noted that the Mongolian government pays special attention to encouraging democracy, and that good governance is vital to a strong democracy.
He said transparent, fair, and responsible governance is crucial for Mongolia to realize the full economic benefits of its abundant natural resources. He added that social changes and globalization require responsible governance and pose challenges.
Conference attendees will hear reports from Professor Kristof Reinhard of University of Potsdam (“State Governance – International Experience and Trends”) and Management Academy Director G.Chuluunbaatar (“Five Challenges of American Democracy and their Relevance to Mongolian Democracy.”)
