A conference entitled “Mongol Citizen 2020” was held in Sukhbaatar aimag last weekend. More than 500 delegates attended the conference, which examined development issues in the aimag.

Among those taking part were First Deputy Prime Minister and DP head N.Altankhuyag; DP secretary general D.Erdenebat; MPs E.Bat-Uul and Ts.Bayarsaikhan; governor of the aimag J.Batsuuri; and members of the DP of Sukhbaatar aimag.

D.Erdenebat noted that the province has developed rapidly since he visited in 2008. Governor J.Batsuuri promised to work to keep developing the aimag. Local residents said they were proud of their standard of living and felt safe. Many projects are underway or planned in the aimag, including city planning in Baruun-Urt, road construction, and the building of affordable apartments.

A meat processing factory will open on October 1, and a raw material exchange is planned. The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry has allocated MNT 4 billion from its budget for the latter project, and the local private sector has raised MNT 2 billion. Sukhbaatar aimag has issued bonds for the first time, and MNT 2 billion has been spent for road construction.
