At its meeting last Friday, the Cabinet rejected President Ts.Elbegdorj’s reply to a note from Prime Minister S.Batbold about the reorganization of military units.
Elbegdorj had written that under the law the Government must discuss the establishment and dismissal of military units with the Commander General of the Armed Forces. But, he wrote, the Government established a new unit without such a discussion, so the decision should be rescinded. He also wrote that the changes did not conform to state policy.
But the Cabinet has decided to stick with its decision to merge the Police Academy and Border Military Institute into the Inner Affairs University under the Ministry of Justice and Internal Affairs.
Minister for Justice and Internal Affairs Ts.Nyamdorj said the Government has not violated any laws, so its decision is still in effect.
