As of February 2026, 5 percent of Mongolia’s territory is experiencing extremely severe winter conditions. Meanwhile, 16 percent of the land is facing severe conditions, 50 percent moderate, 17 percent minor difficulties, and 11 percent is free of winter-related problems, according to the National Agency Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring.
By province, winter conditions are expected to be particularly severe in most areas of Selenge, Tuv, Bulgan, Bayan-Ulgii, Uvs, Darkhan-Uul, as well as in parts of Khovd, Zavkhan, Uvurkhangai, Bayankhongor, Khentii, and Dundgovi.
