The 9th Asian Winter Games are scheduled to take place from February 7 to 14, 2025, in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China. This marks the second time Harbin will host the event, the first being in 1996, and the third time China has hosted the Asian Winter Games. The Games will feature 64 medal events across six sports: biathlon, curling, ice hockey, skating, skiing, and ski mountaineering. Athletes from 34 nations are expected to compete, totaling around 1,275 participants.
From Mongolia, 35 athletes under the guidance of 28 coaches will participate the 9th Asian Winter Games in seven categories in four sports. It is the largest group in our history.
Mongolian athletes have a history of successful participation in Asian Winter Games. For example, Mongolia won their first bronze medal in the men’s cross-country ski relay at the Sapporo 1990 Asian Winter Games. And they won a bronze medal in alpine skiing freestyle at the 2007 Changchun Games. At the Astana-Almaty 2011 Games, the bandy hockey team won silver and four bronze medals in ski orienteering.
The 9th Asian Winter Games embrace the theme “Dream of Winter, Love among Asia.” This slogan reflects the unity and shared passion for winter sports among Asian nations. It was selected from 3,518 slogans submitted by 4,608 people from all over the world.
