The SCO summit will be held in Astana on July 3-4, according to a statement on the SCO website. It is the 24th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. China will take over the SCO rotating chair at the conclusion of the summit.
The upcoming visits carry great ramifications against the backdrop of growing geopolitical tensions, rampant US decoupling pushes that are fragmenting the world, and the West’s attempts to sow discord among the cooperation framework, observers said.
President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh will attend this summit as an observer. Mongolia considers the SCO as an important channel for multilateral cooperation and gained observer status in 2004. Since that time, Mongolia has regularly participated in the meeting of SCO Heads of State Council, which is the organization’s highest level meeting.
