Parliamentary elections are being held in Mongolia

Parliamentary elections are being held in Mongolia today /June 28, 2024/, and voting started at 07:00 across the country. The Parliament made changes to the Constitution of Mongolia to create a Parliament with 126 members.

As of 11:00 a.m., more than 400,000 voters have voted nationwide, which is more than 20 percent of all voters. This is a high number compared to the 2020 parliamentary elections and 2021 presidential elections. Voters are actively voting in the provinces and are queuing to vote. If voting continues with this pace, it can finish on time, said Chairman of the General Election Committee P.Delgernaran.

As of 3:30 p.m. nationwide, 878,484 voters have voted and the turnout reached 42.3 percent.

64 percent of all voters are olders or over 70 years old. On the other hand, the participation of young people, 18-19-year-olds, in the elections is low, at 28.6 percent.
