It rained for two days last week in Ulaanbaatar. Due to the heavy rain, flood level of the Tuul River reached 260 cm-342 cm, and the river level exceeded by a total of 82 cm. This time, Tuul River is at its worst level of flooding since 1966. In 1966, flood level of the Tuul River reached 310 cm while last year it reached 311 cm.

To prevent flooding, willow and silt inside the Selbe river’s engineering structure are being moved. The official emphasized that there should be no trees or bushes inside the engineering structures or dams. This work has continued since January 5. Since 1966, 24 km of dams have been built along the Selbe River. Some parts of the dam, which were made by hand, are being made into a reinforced concrete structure.
This year, out of the planned construction of 12 drainage networks, six have been completed. The rest will be commissioned before the Naadam festival.
