Students M.Davaajargal and G.Gantulga are organizing the down syndrome awareness campaign “Let’s understand, befriend, and respect” throughout the country. The opening ceremony of the campaign was held on May 8 at the “Innovation Hub” center, and more than 100 participants gathered for a day. They discussed about suggestions and solutions to create opportunities for children with Down syndrome to be accepted in society, and learned about Down syndrome and human rights.

Also, as part of the campaign, a series of online training is being organized for the citizens of 21 provinces of Mongolia. The first round of online training was organized with more than 170 registered participants from all over Mongolia, while the second round was planned to be held on May 29, and registration was announced as open.

The campaign will last for a month until June 8.

There are more than 6 million people with Down syndrome in the world. Mongolia has not certain research in this field. There are more than 600 registered members in Mongolian Down Association and the number of members is increasing every year. It is estimated that one child with Down syndrome is born for every 700 births in Mongolia.
