Judo World Cup, which is a big test before the Paris Olympics continues in Abu Dhabi. Individual matches were held and the champions were announced yesterday/23.05.2024/. Mongolia has sent 18 judokas and ranked 7th as a team by won the one gold, one bronze medal. Then, Japan took the lead in the team ranking, followed by Georgia, South Korea, Azerbaijan, Italy, and France.
The only gold medal of the Mongolian national team was won by B.Baasankhuu in the women’s -48 kg. She is the 6th judoka from Mongolia who won the World Cup. G.Narantsetseg competed in -48 kg too, but she defeated Tugce Beder from Turkey.
L.Ankhzaya won the bronze medal in the men’s -73 kg. He went to Abu Dhabi to replace the injured Tsogtbaatar, and fulfilled his duties adequately. He defeated Djibouti’s Aden-Alexandre Hussein in the first round, Georgia’s Lasha Shavdatuashvili in the second round, Romania’s Alexandru Raichu in the third round, and defeated Switzerland’s Nils Stump for the division title. Unfortunately, he lost to Japan’s Tatsuki Ishihara in the semifinals, but beat Brazil’s Daniel Garnin for the bronze medal.
