The import volume increased by 28.8 percent

As of April, imports has reached 3.4 billion MNT according to Mongolian Customs. Compared to the same period of last year, the import volume increased by 28.8 percent.

Petroleum products account for 21.5 percent of total imports, while passenger car imports account for 9.5 percent. As of April, the import volume of diesel fuel reached 537,000 tons, an increase of 35.2 percent from the previous year. Furthermore, 45,700 cars were imported, which is a 2.2 times increase from the same period last year. And 10,063 trucks were imported, an increase of 53 percent compared to the same period of last year.

As of April, export volume has decreased 146 million USD from the last year while import is increasing rapidly. Of the 146 million USD decrease in exports, 73 million USD is related to the export of coal alone. The growth of Mongolian imports is mainly influenced by imports of gasoline and passenger cars.
