The National Forum on Port revival was held today /26.03.2024/. Out of 39 ports in Mongolia, 24 ports are operating actively. As of today, construction work is being done on 8 ports out of 24 ports. Construction work of 3 ports
Compared to the pre-Covid period, the volume of foreign trade has increased significantly, and the export of some types of goods has doubled. By expanding the operations of ports and intensifying construction and investment activities, foreign trade increased to 15.2 billion US dollars while the Government of Mongolia has set a goal of increasing its foreign trade and export to 14 billion US dollars in 2022-2024.
Infrastructural developments will continue in the second phase of the Port revival, from 2025 to 2028.
Currently, two agreements are being actively negotiated in the field of economic and trade expansion of Mongolia. The first one is negotiation with South Korea and Japan. Also the second one is negotiation with Russia.
For the last six months, the Ministry of Economic Development has been continuously negotiating agreements with Russia. An agreement is being negotiated to export 375 types of goods in three groups to the Russian Federation without duty or quota.
