Mongolian doctors performed an operation on a patient with epilepsy

Neurosurgery department doctors of State central third hospital has introduced new technology of neurosurgery with doctors and professors from China and performed an operation on a patient with epilepsy on March 16. This is the first time in Mongolia that a new type of epilepsy surgery is being localized.

Previously, in Mongolia people with this type of diagnosis were treated only with drugs. The surgery is less risky than other types of surgery. Although the results are not immediate after the surgery, the rate of seizure decreases over a period of 5-10 years. Such surgery is performed when drug treatment fails.

Surgical equipment costs 55 million MNT. If you go to a foreign country and undergo this treatment, it will cost about 100 million MNT. In the developed countries of the world, the surgery is performed at an average cost of 150-400 million MNT.

The introduction of new technology not only stops the flow of medical treatment abroad, but it also has economical benefit.
