“V-Dem” institution has been publishing the democracy index of countries openly and free of charge since 1789. Political scientists are widely using this information.

Mongolia ranked 77th place last year with 0.43 points in the democracy index. It was a drop of 16 places from the previous year. This year, Mongolia fell 4 places and ranked 81st place.

The democracy index of any country is based on freedom of every citizen, regardless of these factors, such as multi-party system, free and fair elections, a transparent and open government that respects the law, a quality that strives for a peaceful transfer of power, independent media free from government control and influence, majorities and minorities.

Mongolia fell 5 places in the corruption index in 2023. So that Mongolia ranked 121st place among 180 countries last year.
