President of the National Assembly of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Xaysomphone Phomvihane arrived in Mongolia for an official visit at invitation of the Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia G.Zandanshatar. They signed the Memorandum of Cooperation between the State Great Khural of Mongolia and the National Assembly of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
The signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation is significant as it consolidates the legal grounding of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and facilitates favorable conditions for further expansion and development of cooperation. After this ceremony, the representatives of the National Assembly of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic led by the President Xaysomphone Phomvihane visited the “Ikh Khuraldai” Hall, where the Parliament Sessions are held.
Mongolia and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic established diplomatic relations on September 12, 1962. Mongolia opened its Embassy in Vientiane in 1976 and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Ulaanbaatar in 1981 respectively.
