Over 100 goose specialists from 14 countries were gathered in the Meeting of the Goose Specialist Group of Wetlands International and the IUCN-Species Survival Commission (GSG) which took place in Mongolia on 16-18 August.

The Meeting organized with an aim to strengthen cooperation for the study and conservation of the various goose species along the East Asia/ Australasia Flyway.

The Meeting of the Goose Specialist Group, which has been held annually since 1995, was co-organized by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia, the Institute of Biology of Mongolian Academy of Sciences, Oklahoma State University, and the Wildlife Science and Conservation Center of Mongolia.

Participants discussed and exchanged views on research and conservation works related to the wildlife biology and ecology of geese and other waterbirds in the Northern Hemisphere, with a particular focus on diseases, reproduction ecology, movement and migration, behavior, distribution, abundance, population dynamics, eco-physiology, and management of waterfowl.
