Today (16 august), the “Ulaanbaatar 2023” East Asian Youth Games has inaugurated  in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

The Opening Ceremony of the 2023 East Asian Youth Games was postponed by one day due to heavy rain in Ulaanbaatar. The “Ulaanbaatar 2023” is set to feature competitions in 12 sports categories with participation of 808 athletes from 11 countries, including the Republic of Korea, Mongolia, Japan, and the People’s Republic of China.

The organizers emphasized that the “Ulaanbaatar 2023” involves over 2600 participants – 246 officials and coaches, 756 local staff members, 1412 volunteers, 312 technical delegates and judges from the National and Asian Olympic Committees, and 113 medical staff.

On August 17, the Judo competition of the EAYG began at the Steppe Arena with an exciting start. The initial matches featured the men’s categories of 55 kg, 60 kg, and 66 kg, along with the women’s categories of 44 kg, 48 kg, and 52 kg. A total of 56 judokas from eight countries are competing in six categories, encompassing both males and females.

In addition to Judo, the EAYG has been bustling with a variety of other competitions, such as table tennis, basketball, athletics, freestyle wrestling, taekwondo, volleyball, boxing, football, e-sport, badminton, and basketball (3×3).
