Mongolian leaders invite Chinese tourists to visit Ulaanbaatar

Mongolian Deputy Prime Minister Ch.Khurelbaatar hailed the signing of 25 agreements and Memorandum of understanding worth more than USD 2 billion, when talking to CGTN after a China-Mongolia Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum held in Beijing.

Over 300 Chinese enterprises and 100 Mongolian companies attended the forum, during which Mongolian Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene celebrated his birthday with the entrepreneurs. The visiting Mongolian leaders also invited Chinese tourists to visit their country.

“In July, Mongolia will host an economic forum,” L.Oyun-Erdene said, calling on the Chinese people to visit Mongolia next month, when the Naadam Festival will kick off to allow tourists to experience the festival and enjoy the natural scenery.

Mongolia has declared 2023 to 2025 as “The Years to Visit Mongolia” under the official motto “Welcome to Mongolia,” which aims to diversify and develop its economy through tourism. As part of the campaign, the country aims to receive 400,000 tourists from China.

The country has offered 72-hour visa-free travel for Chinese citizens.

Trade between China and Mongolia via Ganqmod Port, the largest highway port between China and Mongolia, continued to boom in the first quarter of 2023, official data shows.

Ganqmod Port in north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region cleared nearly 8 million tonnes of goods in the first quarter of 2023, an increase of more than four times compared to the same period last year, according to the port’s administration authorities in April.

Among them, the volume of imported coal was 7.68 million tonnes, up 525.4 percent year on year, while imports of refined copper powder grew by 12.2 percent year on year to 201,200 tonnes.
