Mongolians planting trees for climate change

By the end of 2023, A total of 42.9 million trees will be planted in Mongolia as part of the Billion Trees national campaign, initiated by President.

There are 336 nurseries in Mongolia covering an area of 1,750 hectares. A total of 51.3 million seedlings have been planted in these nurseries by the end of 2022.

The total area of Ulaanbaatar is 470,444 hectares, of which 116,258 hectares or 24.7 percent are forest resources.

The Billion Trees national campaign aims to increase the forest area in the capital from 20.2 percent to 22.9 percent by 2030.

A total of 120 million trees will be planted in Ulaanbaatar as part of the campaign in 2022-2030.
