U.S. Ambassador to Mongolia Michael Klecheski announced the U.S. government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is providing an additional USD 3 million to further strengthen the United States-Mongolia partnership to meet shared development goals.
USAID funds will support the Mongolia Energy Governance (MEG) activity launched by USAID Mission Director Ryan Washburn during his visit in May 2022. The project improves planning and promotes greater market competitiveness to incentivize private investment and increased development of modern, clean energy technologies. In addition, these new funds will also strengthen civil society organizations and media to promote good governance.
For more than 30 years, USAID has worked with Mongolia to advance democracy, strengthen community resilience against natural disasters, and increase sustainable, inclusive economic growth. To date, the U.S. government, through USAID, has invested more than $130 million (MNT 400 billion) to help Mongolia achieve its development goals.
