A Mongolian falcon used for hunting has been sold in Doha for 911,000 Qatari riyals.

Birds of prey are an integral part of Gulf culture, and winged creatures hold a premium among citizens involved in using them to hunt small game and other activities collectively known as falconry.

The highest bid of 911,000 Qatari Riyals was made on the penultimate day of the exhibition by Bader Mohsen Misfar Saeed Al Subay.

Over 180 companies from all over the world exhibited their camping gear at the Katara International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition in Doha.

According to organizers, the first prize of USD 3,000 for the most beautiful Falcon hood was won by Spain’s Pepe Palahood, while England’s Sahara Hunting took home the USD 2,000 prize.

Winners will be determined by the Organizing Committee based on member votes.

The award was first awarded in 2018 to support craftsmanship and traditional industries.
