Today (30 August) as many as 21 ministers took oath in a major Cabinet expansion-cum-reshuffle. 10 new faces were added to Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene’s new Cabinet. Therefore, the Cabinet has 4 functional Ministry and 12 Ministers as well as 12 Minister without portfolio.
Recently, the Constitutional Court of Mongolia voided the Article 39.1 of the Constitution that imposes limit on number of MPs working in Government as Ministers. A member of parliament (MP) is the political representative of the voters to a parliament while a Minister is a politician who holds a significant public office in parliament.
