Los Angeles, CA, USA – The Project Godsend production team recently met in Los Angeles and exchanged opinions with Mr. Tsagaan Puntsag (Steppe Arena) on the positive impacts a major Hollywood-Mongolia collaborative film project would have for Mongolia and how best to advance the project. Areas discussed included new job creation, developing the creative economy and (borderless) export opportunities in Mongolia, supporting tourism and cultural exchange, helping to develop the Mongolian film industry in partnership with Hollywood, and portraying the history of Chinggis Khaan and the Mongolian people to the western world in a more positive way. Godsend is aligned with the Government of Mongolia’s policy aimed at making Mongolia a destination for Hollywood film and TV productions and the team is confident that it will receive the Government’s support. Godsend will be filmed entirely in Mongolia, and is in line with Mongolian Parliament’s recently passed legislation providing incentives to foreign film and TV projects in Mongolia. The involvement of Mongolian investors and artists in this project ensures a direct participation of Mongolian people in telling a story to global audiences that authentically represents the beauty of Mongolia’s heritage, emphasizing the contribution of Mongolia and Chinggis Khaan to world history (contributions that are especially relevant today) in an artistic way. In addition to James Liotta, who wrote the screenplay, Scott Rosenfelt, a veteran Hollywood producer, was one of the members of the production team that met Mr. Tsagaan Puntsag. Scott Rosenfelt is responsible for some of Hollywood’s most iconic films, including: Home Alone, which remains the highest grossing comedy of all time; Mystic Pizza, which launched Julia Roberts’ career; and Teen Wolf, which starred Michael J. Fox and is one of the highest grossing independent films of all time. In 2020, Mr. Rosenfelt produced Critical Thinking, John Leguizamo’s directorial debut. The members of the Godsend production team have over 40 years of professional experience working closely with all the major Hollywood studios, streaming services, production companies and talent agencies. Godsend is set to be a feature film combining Mongolian-Hollywood talent and it is praiseworthy that all filming is planned to take place in Mongolia.
