Mongolia’s Covid-19 cases drop for first time in 2 months

The summer surge of Covid-19 cases caused by the Delta (B1617.2) variant may be tapering off after causing the third wave of heightened pandemic activity in the Mongolia.

According to Health Ministry, the drop in Covid-19 cases over the last week is the longest sustained decline in cases in over 2 months.

Though new case counts and hospitalizations seem to be declining, the peak deaths caused by this wave are still continuing. According to the Health Ministry, 11 people above age 41 have died of covid-19 in last 24 hours, bringing total toll to 1745.

Today (1 November), the country recorded 921 cases; 667 in Ulaanbaatar and 254 in 21 provinces. In total, Mongolia has recorded 360,317 cases since the pandemic began.
