Its looks like covid-19 infections are decreasing in Mongolia, with 1303 new infections reported today (19 October). Average number of new infections reported each day in Mongolia falls to more than 1100 over the last 3 weeks.
However, it’s must be noted that the Health Ministry counts only positive test results from PCR covid-19 testing at National Center of Communicative Diseases in Ulaanbaatar and general hospitals in 21 provinces. There are six covid-19 testing stations performing rapid tests daily in Ulaanbaatar. However, the results from rapid test are needed to confirm by PCR and not considered as Covid-19 counts at all.
But, most people who tested positive for COVID-19 by rapid test are advised to treat themselves at home following doctor’s recommendations due to a shortage of hospital beds and medical staff.
Separately, Covid-19 daily toll is increasing in the country of 3.2 million as 18 people (two of them were under 20) died of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, reported by Health Ministry today (19 October).
There have been 340,839 infections and 1,574 coronavirus-related deaths reported in the country since the pandemic began.
Mongolia has administered at least 4,389,824 doses of COVID vaccines so far. Assuming every person needs 2 doses, which are enough to have vaccinated about 68.1% of the country’s population.
