The autumn session of Mongolia’s State Great Khural, the country’s parliament, opened on Friday amid a resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr. G. Zandanshatar, speaker of the parliament said that the autumn session will outline new policies of Mongolia’s economic recovery at the opening ceremony. Strengthening governance capacity and building good governance are also two important goals of the session, he added.
He also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims of the pandemic, and urged unity of the public for the development of the country. Most of the COVID-19 patients in the country are receiving treatment at home, due to the lack of hospital beds and medical staff, according to the country’s health ministry.
President U.Khurelsukh gave statement to lawmakers at the opening session at 14:00 behind a closed door.
