On 20 July, Mongolian Health Minister S.Enkhbold, reported that two cases of the Covid-19 Delta variant have been confirmed in the 13 samples sent to Columbia University in New York. Also, one case was confirmed in samples examined at the Intermed Hospital in Ulaanbaatar early in July.

Currently, seven people who have been confirmed as having the Delta variant are under treatment in the National Centre for Communicative Diseases and are in a stable condition.

Previously, Mongolia confirmed and treated five imported cases of the Delta Variant after sending 1500 samples to foreign laboratories for testing mutations. Before 15 June, the Alpha variant was tested in 85-90 percent of all samples.
