Today (29 June), the Mongolian Government discussed the amendment to the 2021 State Budget for increasing financing for the health sector due to Covid-19. The amendment is needed to be approved by parliament. The amendment will increase the budget of the health sector for over MNT 700 billion; including one-time bonuses of MNT 2 million to 13,000 medical workers who are working in the red-zone fighting against the pandemic. In addition, monthly salaries of medical workers will be raised by 50 percent. Currently, monthly salaries of most medical workers now stand at MNT 700,000.
Separately, the Cabinet approved MNT 110 billion for setting up 2000 new beds, MNT 3.7 billion for mobilizing resident doctors and MNT 60 billion for stockpiling Covid-19 medicines.
