Yesterday (20 June), the number of Covid-19 cases in Mongolia surpassed that of China as the country of three million confirmed 2400 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total confirmed cases to 91,551.

Today (21 June), Mongolia added another 2,268 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total tally to 95,819 while China has 91,604 confirmed cases.

Separately, on Saturday (19 June), Mongolia registered 14 deaths related to Covid-19 – another daily record since the start of the pandemic; this brings the national death toll to 439. The grim total has seen another 22 deaths in the last two days.

The Asian country launched a national vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in late February, with the aim of covering at least 60 percent of its population of 3.3 million.

A total of 1.9 million Mongolians have so far received their first dose, and 1.6 million people have been fully vaccinated.
