On April 27, South Korea’s top convenience store operator, BGF Retail, announced that it has signed an agreement with UNICEF Korea to support Mongolia’s eco-friendly and high-efficiency ger construction project. The ger districts are vast sprawling shanty-towns, were most people live below the poverty-line.
Under the agreement, BGF – which stands for “Be Good Friends” – will donate US$500,000 through UNICEF Korea over three years to support the construction of eco-friendly and high-efficiency homes for at least 500 families and 10 kindergartens.
BGF Retail has been active in Mongolia in recent years, opening its CU franchises in Mongolian capital since2018.
